Program Overview

Outpatient/Ambulatory medical care is crucial for people living with HIV (PLHIV). While HIV management has dramatically improved over time, it remains complex, with treatment options and protocols rapidly advancing. This complexity often necessitates specialized HIV-specific care to address the diagnosis, treatment, medication side effects, and overall health effectively. Despite having multiple alternative funding sources, this service category is crucial due to the challenges inherent in HIV treatment.

DHR Commentary

Outpatient/Ambulatory Health Services (OHAS) is consistently prioritized as crucial by both the community and providers. Access to HIV-specialty care is essential due to its specific management requirements. Our funded programs also typically provide Primary Care, which helps address non-HIV medical needs and minimizes client visits to healthcare providers. This service category is going to be especially important with uncertainty of federal funding and Medicaid access in the coming years.

This service category consistently receives reallocated funding.
