Program Overview

Other Professional Services (OPS), primarily legal services, is dedicated to assisting people living with HIV (PLHIV) in navigating a range of legal issues, including those related to healthcare, housing, discrimination, and immigration. This support is especially crucial as the population relocating to Colorado under asylum or immigration has increased. OPS also provides assistance with advanced directives and end-of-life planning, a vital service that gained prominence early in the HIV pandemic due to the higher mortality rates resulting from a lack of medical treatment.

DHR Commentary

Although we understand there is a need to support people living with HIV and their legal service needs, the challenges with HRSA limitations on timelines, extended timelines that go beyond fiscal years, and getting law firms to agree with these limitations have made this service category not operable without a significantly higher allocation, which we do not recommend.
