Program Overview

Food bank/home delivered meals (FB/HDM) services were integrated into the Ryan White program in response to the significant challenges faced by people living with HIV (PLHIV), particularly food insecurity. PLHIV often encounter difficulties accessing nutritious food due to financial constraints or mobility issues, impacting their overall health and ability to consistently take HIV medications.

DHR Commentary

For several years, this service category has been crucial due to limited access to food and nutrition services. One of the funded agencies also coordinates with clients' medical providers to provide more tailored home-delivered meals. It's a category that often sees reallocation of funds because providers find it straightforward to use extra funding to purchase additional food and household supplies
